Since January of 1999, consumers across the U.S. have geared up for advice from Atlanta’s leading consumer advocate, Clark Howard. A self-described professional tightwad, Howard has become a wallet’s most trusted friend, offering listeners sound advice on everything from travel tips to hot spots where consumers can find fantastic bargains.
Howard learned to navigate life’s rough waters and appreciate the value of money earlier than most. By the tender age of 31, Clark had earned a Masters degree, built a successful travel agency chain, sold it, and then retired. However, the life of leisure didn’t stick. He appeared on a radio show about travel and immediately discovered his true calling was to help others. Today his consumer program, which currently airs weekdays on the #1 News/Talk 750 WSB Radio, is the highest rated radio show in Atlanta among Adults 25-54.
Clark is an Atlanta native who has started civic programs such as Atlanta Volunteer Action, The Big Buddy Program, and Career Action. In 1993 he opened the Consumer Action Center, an advice service for consumer questions, staffed by more than 140 volunteers. And as if that weren’t enough, if you happen to miss his daily radio show, just surf the net and log on to www.clarkhoward.com to check out his advice and tips for the day.
In addition to his radio duties, Clark hosts weekly consumer segments for CNN’s Daybreak and WSB-TV Atlanta, and writes a weekly column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His latest book, “Clark’s Big Book of Bargains” is in stores now. He’s also made appearances on The Today Show, ABC’s 20/20 Downtown, The Montel Williams Show, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Kiplinger Magazine.
Clark Howard lives the life he tells his listeners about. His spirit, optimism and plain useful advice resonates with 3.5 million listeners weekly on more than 150 radio stations nationwide. The Clark Howard Show airs weekdays from 1PM to 4PM EST.
