After weeks of deliberating and teasing and seeming that it might have all been a ruse, SiriusXM’s Howard Stern signed with NBC/Universal to become the latest judge on the new season of America’s Got Talent on the peacock network. Stern replaces CNN’s yakker and Larry King replacement, Piers Morgan, in the third judges slot next to Sharon Osbourne (maybe…more on that in a moment) and Howie Mandel (who actually got his start on a talent show of sorts, the late 1970′s syndicated game show, Make Me Laugh).

Here’s footage of Howard making his special announcement on Howard 100 on Thursday morning, December 15. Even his superagent, Don Buchwald, was in the studio. Yep, it was that important.

It is expected that the show will record in New York City instead of its’ current location in Los Angeles. As a result, there is a possibility that judge Sharon Osbourne may or may not be part of the new season, preferring to stay home in LA with her family.
